How We Help

"Your Life, Your Case, Your Way."

That statement drives everything we do at Rogue Family Law. That's because we recognize there's more than one way to get your legal matter solved, and it's not always in a Courtroom.

At Rogue Family Law, you'll find multiple ways to get family law help.

One Size Does Not Fit All. (Or, why have choices?)

According to recent studies,  approximately 80 percent of families in Oregon are representing themselves in their family law cases–either one or both parties do not hire lawyers. In some parts of Oregon, such as in Jackson County, estimates are as high as 90%. Often families are representing themselves because they either can’t afford traditional representation or fear involving attorneys who will create more conflict in their lives. So most families are not getting any help to manage their cases because they can’t afford it or reject the ways lawyers handle these important matters and go it alone.

Every year, thousands of Oregonians represent themselves in their divorce or other family law cases without incident. Over 17,000 family law cases were filed by a self represented person.

You should know, however, that family matters can be complex in some or all aspects. For these cases, full representation may be necessary. Should the progress of your case hit an unexpected complication, you may need to hire counsel (if you are in the Legal Workshop program) or expand the services of your unbundled program. You may wish to expand the bundle of services provided or convert your case to a traditional representation.

A word of caution: Do not wait to seek expanded or full representation if your case becomes overwhelming, too fast-paced or just too complicated. Many lawyers will not come into a case just before a trial when it is too late to prepare or because not all judges will permit postponements for new counsel to prepare.

Our Collaborative Service Program is designed for those couples who are committed to working together on their case to reach an agreement but need the help of trained professionals to manage sticking points or complications in their unique circumstances.

With Rogue Family Law, the question really is: how much help do you need in your family law case?

A Little Bit of Help

When you already know what you need, only need a little bit of help, or want to "pay as you go" according to your budget, this option is for you.

This option features a Document Portal for you to prepare your court paperwork using our forms from the comfort and privacy of your home.

You'll complete our online “interview” and it will generate the forms you need to get your case started or respond to one that has been started by the other party.

This tool comes with FAQ’s, explanatory guides, and a checklist of steps to help you find the right forms and finish them right the first time. Attorney review services are available for an additional fee.

A Moderate Bit of Help

You don't have to go it alone, but you don't have to give up control of your case, either. With this option, you'll get a Legal Orientation with an attorney to:

  •  give you an overview of your rights and obligations under Oregon law
  • explain the legal process in a "human friendly" way
  • help you chart a course forward that works for your situation

This option features hands-on, online workshops with video content, guides, and document prep to focus on the issues that matter most to you and guide you in preparing documents that turn your agreement into a final judgment.

A Lot of Help

Affordable and expert help that works for your unique situation. This option features one-on-one sessions with an attorney after your legal orientation and/or  workshop(s) to help you:

  • dive deeper on the issues in your case: parenting, property or support
  • create a strategy to reach your goals
  • prepare you for all the major events in your case including hearings, trial and mediation
  • respond to the unexpected in your case if your spouse/partner/co-parent files something in court
  • work through your case step-by-step

This option can be purchased by the session as you need help OR can be bundled into a package that includes:

  • a coaching series  scheduled in advance to keep you moving steadily through your case
  • bundled with our Document Portal so you have access to customized documents at every step in your case
  • bundled with workshops for the topics that matter most to you
